Laguna Community Concert Band

LAGUNA COMMUNITY CONCERT BAND
(A California Non Profit Corporation)

Mission Statement
“The mission of the Laguna Community Concert Band is to foster the musical talent and education of our members while striving to enrich the cultural life of the community by providing quality entertainment to diverse audiences. In addition, we strive to support music education and interact with other artistic organizations.”

Over a cup of coffee at the Zinc Café, the Laguna Beach Community Concert Band was formed when flutist Theresa Marino, local conductor Dr. Bill Nicholls and Laguna Beach Arts Commission member and musician Carol Reynolds nurtured the idea until it blossomed. Beginning as an 8-member class at the LB Recreation Department and growing into a fully developed 60+ member non-profit organization, the LCCB is currently listed as a class through the Irving Valley College Emeritus Program run by Dave Anderson and is funded by grants and donations.

The rapid growth and success of the band is a testimony to the cultural awareness of the Laguna Beach Community at large, and to the significant contributions of the early band members. Attracting local talent, and directed by Ed Peterson and Pete Fournier in addition to Dr. Bill Nichols, the LCCB now performs over 20 concerts per year in such venues as Festival of Arts, Sawdust Festival, Art-A-Fair, Patriots Day Parade, and the popular Memorial Day concert on Main Beach’s cobblestones and boardwalk.

Over the last few years, smaller ensembles have formed within the band, including a very fine Swing Band, a Flute Ensemble, a Dixieland Band, and a Brass Quintet. All are available for bookings.

The band is always looking for good muscians. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 6:00 - 9:00p. at Laguna Beach High School.
