3 to 5pm

Artists' Theater
Laguna Beach High School

Christmas Concert Spectacular!

Rare and unusual antique instruments will be featured during the annual holiday concert at the Laguna Beach Artists' Theater at Laguna Beach High School this December 13. With downbeat at 3pm, the two hour concert will feature the talented Robert Verdi and Dr. Anthony Mazzaferro. Verdi, a master performer who has played with the Disneyland Resort for over 21 years, is an avid collector of rare, antique instruments. One of Verdi’s instruments to be played during this concert will be his 6 1/2 foot tall contrabass sax which can be heard on the 2008 soundtrack of "Horton Hears A Who." You will have to see it and hear it to believe it! Dr. Mazzaferro, who is currently the Director of Bands at Fullerton College and conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, is also an accomplished tuba player, and hearing these two “masters of the big horn” will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

With Master of Ceremonies, Lona Ingwerson guiding the audience through the concert, as well narrating “The Night Before Christmas” accompanied by the band, the Laguna Community Concert Band has a very diverse and exciting program scheduled. From traditional Christmas favorites by the Concert Band to jazz, the concert will also showcase the Laguna big band SwingSet, the Laguna Flutes, the Laguna sax quartet Sax Appeal, and vocalist Linda Hughes. Get ready for the big finish with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Ultimate Christmas Sing Along led by community favorite Pat Kollenda!
